Lowering Kits

Lowering your car has a ton of benefits. With the right lowering kit you gain better handling, a lower center of gravity and — this is the important part — it looks cool, too. Of course, there are a ton of different choices out there for what kind of lowering kit to get, so let's take a quick moment to figure out what the best lowering kit is for you.

Start with your vehicle. Lowering kits are vehicle specific, so pick a kit that not only works for your make and model, but also year and drive option. You don't want to get a lowering kit for an all-wheel-drive Escalade when yours is rear-wheel drive. Then go with how much drop you want to get. Every lowering kit lists the amount of drop you'll get, and it's usually done in a "2/3" or "5/6" format. What do those numbers mean? Well the first one is how much drop you'll get in the front of your vehicle. The second is for the rear. So if you're looking for a lowering kit for your '95 Toyota and you see our 2/3 BellTech kit, your ride will go down two inches up front, three in the back. Why is there more drop in the back? Manufacturers often make it so that the rear end of the vehicle *looks* like it's physically level when going down the road and set up the fender arches accordingly. That way you can pile people in the back seat or put a load of cinder blocks in the bed of your truck, and your vehicle will be *actually* level when it's got that extra weight onboard.
